public IM connectivity server
| overview

The Public IM Connectivity Server provides enterprise users integration between Microsoft Live Communications Server and public IM networks such as AOL and MSN.
The Public IM Connectivity Server is designed for use for small to medium sized businesses who employ Microsoft® Live Communications Server and are not Microsoft® volume license customers. We recommend organizations who are volume license customers should pursue buying PIC CALs directly through Microsoft® or your authorized Microsoft® reseller and use their service for connection to public IM networks.
Highlights:
- Integration - Allow Microsoft® Live Communications users to communicate with AOL and MSN.
- Management - Full control and provisioning is in the hands of the network administrator.
- Simplification - Communicate using a single application, no need to install AOL/MSN software.
- Cost - No recurring monthly fees, just the cost of the initial purchase.
The M-Networks Public IM Connectivity Server runs silently in the background as a Windows® service converting instant messages between the SIP protocol and the various protocols utilized by the different providers.
Requirements:
- Microsoft® Live Communications Server 2005 (with Service Pack 1)
- Computer running Microsoft® Windows® XP or Windows® Server 2003
